To increase worldwide recognition and boost exposure for Taiwan’s design brands, the Fresh Taiwan pavilion will make its fourth appearance at Ambiente, the world’s leading design fair taking place in Frankfurt from Feb. 9 through 13.
Organized by the Ministry of Culture, a total of ten Taiwan design brands will bring an extensive range of products spanning homeware, culinary tools, stationary, lighting, and lifestyle accessories this year to procure business opportunities with international buyers.
Ystudio (物外), a stationary manufacturer that seeks to combine traditional techniques with simplicity in its design, will showcase rollerball pens and brass ballpoint pens made of copper that changes color with the passage of time.
Studio Lim (濯濁), which manufactures innovative lifestyle products with sustainable materials such as linen fiber, will present their designs and aesthetics that integrate traditional craftsmanship with modern manufacturing techniques.
Danzo (蛋造), founded by Taiwanese designers Tseng Wei-lun (曾偉倫) and Chen I-han (陳奕翰) in 2013, won the gold prize at the 2015 Ambiente – the first Taiwan brand to do so. It will display products such as the Landscape collection of tabletop gadgets and accessories.
Singular Concept design studio focuses on developing sustainable and competitive products ranging from house appliances to fashion accessories. The studio hopes to present the best quality of Taiwanese design and manufacturing to international markets.
HMM (奇異果), which stands for Human, Mechanic, and Method, is a brand emphasizing the connection between objects and mankind. Products such as the Rule/One pen-ruler and the 2-in-1 scissors-boxcutter HMM scissors will present the brand’s innovative vision.
Established in 2013, Paper Shoot (紙綸科技) offers the fun of photography while protecting the environment through sustainable digital cameras. Made from inorganic mineral power, its durable and water-resistant cameras provide users with a unique experience that combines traditional viewfinders and modern digital photography.
DAQI CONCEPT (大器創意) is a brand that seeks to elevate people’s lifestyle through designs that integrate traditional craft aesthetics and modern technology. “JinGoo,” one of its innovative products, is an energy-saving LED lighting equipped with wireless audio player designed to deliver harmonious ambience for home.
Kamaro’an (嘎瑪魯岸), which refers to “the place to live” in the Amis language, is a brand established by Hualien-based aboriginal artists and Taiwanese designers. Specializing in lifestyle products and accessories, Kamaro’an brings together Taiwanese indigenous culture, craftsmanship, and industrial design in its products.
Paipai pets (拍拍文創) is a brand established to produce natural and safe products for pets as well as animal-themed products. Some of its most-celebrated products include “Natural Wood Elevated Pets Bowl,” “Cat Kennel With Rounded Corner,” and “Wooden Speaker – French Bulldog and Smiling Cat.”
Acorn Studio (橡果藝術), which was established in 2015, aims to trigger people’s imagination and creativity through the art of simplicity. “LUNA,” a refined moon-shaped lamp made of fiberglass and natural latex, will highlight its mission of connecting people with art and space.
Launched in 1949, Ambiente is the world’s largest and most influential trade show featuring home décor, furniture, gifts, and lifestyle accessories. Boasting a wide range of products and the latest trends in consumer goods, the fair attracted a total of 4,454 exhibitors from 96 countries and received over 140,000 visitors from 154 countries last year.
