Page Tsou (鄒駿昇), a Taiwanese illustrator lauded by Bologna Children's Book Fair, will hold his first solo exhibition at Madrid-based Museo ABC from June 28 through Oct. 15.
Rising to prominence with awards from the prestigious Bologna Children's Book Fair and the US-based 3x3 International Illustration Show, Tsou's talents have earned him the opportunity to switch tracks and serve as curator for exhibitions in Taiwan and Italy in recent years.
Hailing back to the start of Tsou's career, "Hide-and-Seek” will showcase a total of 123 illustration works, including his latest work "Toy Car,” "The Tin Soldier(El Soldado de Plomo),” a picture book that is available in Spanish, and the award-winning "Dancing Feathers.”
To quote the Bologna Children's Book Fair judges: ''Dancing Feathers' is exquisite and presents the aesthetic of traditional graphic design. It not only shows his mature technique of illustration but also storytelling. The description of the surrounding reflects his strong personal emotion and view of the world."
Popular works such as "Toy Gun,” "The Gift that Keeps on Giving,” "Noah,” "Trace,” and "The Gift” will also be on display to present Tsou's unique style, rich imagination, and creativity.
Museo ABC was established in 2010 to collect over 200,000 illustrations published by ABC newspaper since 1891. It has since become a famous gallery in Spain for promoting illustrations, graphic arts, and contemporary paintings.
As the first solo exhibition featuring the popular Taiwanese illustrator in Spain, "Hide-and-Seek” is supported by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Spain in the hopes of promoting Taiwan's arts in Spain and building ties with Spanish artists and institutions through this exhibition.
'Hide-and-Seek' will then travel to Pontevedra for a second showing at Pazo da Cultura de Pontevedra from Dec. 7, 2017 through Jan. 14, 2018.
