The Taiwan Academy of Fine Arts (TAFA, 臺灣美術院) ― a renowned arts group devoted to the promotion and inheritance of Taiwan's artistic diversity ― will be holding a special exhibition in Kuala Lumpur from June 2 through 24.
TAFA was established by senior art professors, including National Cultural Awards laureates Liao Shiou-ping and Hsieh Li-fa, to promote artistic creation, theoretical research, cross-sector collaboration, international exchanges, and the sharing of resources pertaining to the development of Taiwan's arts.
A TAFA-curated exhibition titled "Art Made in Taiwan" has been touring the world in recent years. Uniquely local and culturally diverse, yet international in perspective and depth, the showcase fully demonstrates the success of cultural diplomacy and the soft power of Taiwan.
The 24 featured artists of "Art Made in Taiwan: An exhibition from the Taiwan Academy of Fine Arts in Malaysia," which include 21 TAFA members, are:
Each and every one of them have attained brilliant academic achievements, and are equipped with their own unique style and set of aesthetic values.
Three renowned Malaysian artists have also been invited to join the Kuala Lumpur leg of the international touring exhibition: art and design educator, Choong Kam Kow; renowned Nanyang-style ink painter, Cheah Thien Soong; and visual art designer, Lew Tau Fei.
Co-organized by Soka Gakkai Malaysia, Taiwan Academy of Fine Arts, and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, this exhibition hopes to serve as a platform for meaningful exchanges among artists with distinct art sentiments and values from the two countries.
