The 43rdTaiwan Watercolor Society Members' Annual Exhibition featuring the works of some 100 local watercolor painters will be held at the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall from Aug. 29to Sept. 9.
Established in 1970, the society was the first of its kind in Taiwan. In October 2012, it became a national private art organization following approval from the Ministry of the Interior. As the first joint members' exhibition since the status change, winning works of the first Taiwan Watercolor Paintings Award are also included and a conference on watercolor painting creation will be held.
The society is dedicated to promoting arts education, encouraging young painters, improving watercolor paintings in Taiwan as well as boosting the art's popularity. Its members range from artists to professionals in various fields. In addition to well-known painters from all generations, members of the society also include teachers and those in the field of medical science, architecture and design.
Some 250 artworks of a wide variety of styles - including realism and abstraction, traditionalism and modernism - will be on display.
