In recent years, Korean pop music has enjoyed great success not only in Asia, but also in Europe and the United States. At the same time, Japanese pop music has remained competitive and generated high revenues in its local market.
Studying the pop music industry policies, programs and experiences of both South Korea and Japan is therefore of significant interest to Taiwan.
In September 2012, the Ministry of Culture commissioned the National Taiwan Normal University to conduct research on the pop music industry policies of both Japan and South Korea. The research was completed in April 2013 and the results have been submitted to the Ministry and other relevant professionals and groups for reference.
