Explore the beauty of Vietnam’s natural beauty through the lens of Taiwanese photographers at this Hanoi exhibition running from Dec. 1, 2017 through Feb. 25, 2018.
Curated by the National Taiwan Museum, the three-month exhibition is offered in six sections, with the main section dedicated to showcasing the biodiversity of Vietnam through 67 stellar photographs. Vietnam ranks 16th worldwide for ecological variety and variability.
There will also be four sections comparing Vietnam and Taiwan in terms of geography, especially terrain and climate characteristics; forests and their inhabitants; marine life and underwater ecology; and the contemporary urban landscape of modern cities and concrete jungles.
A special section will then discuss Taiwan’s conservation efforts through four case studies and relate the importance of sustainable preservation and management of fisheries, wildlife, water, soil, and forests to the global environmental movement.
The theme of safeguarding invaluable natural resources and the threat of irreversible human damage will also be encapsulated by the screening of two films from Taiwan – “Beyond Beauty: Taiwan From Above” by the late aerial documentary maker Chi Po-lin (齊柏林) and “Misted Forests” by director and butterfly enthusiast Chiang Kuo-bing (江國賓).
Other featured artists from Taiwan include landscape photographers Mike Chuang (莊明景) and Liu Szu-i (劉思沂), nature photographer Lin Ching-feng (林青峰), and marine photographer Yoko Summer.
Special thanks to Hanoi Museum and the Vietnam Museum of Nature for signing a memorandum of cooperation with the Taipei-based National Taiwan Museum and hosting the 112-piece photography exhibition.
