Calligrapher | Tong Yang-tze (I — Mixed Media)
Did You Know That … ?
- “Soundless Composition (無聲的樂章),” a collaboration with artists Jiang Le-jing (姜樂靜) and Yang Wei-lin (楊偉林), comprises three parts: “Heavenly Compass (天規),” “Worldly Ruler (地尺),” and “Strung Bow Pose (弓箭步).” All three installations upcycled discarded pieces that Tong Yang-tze used for practice.
- “Silk (糸),” another collaboration with artist Yang Wei-lin, was created in anticipation of the 2014 International Forum on Natural Dyes in Taiwan’s Nantou County, and was a centerpiece of the “Ecolution: Taiwan Fiber Art” exhibition.
- “SAO (騷),” spelled after the pronunciation of the Chinese character for “provocative,” is a dazzling stage production of calligraphy, dance, and jazz. Created in tandem with choreographers Bulareyaung Pagarlava (布拉瑞揚) and Luo Wen-jinn (羅文瑾), “SAO” is touted as a colorful rhythm of animalistic desires and poetic brilliance.
