The Cocteau Program, a foreign exchange program conducted by the Institut Francais in Taipei and the Ministry of Culture, provides the opportunity for Taiwanese cultural professionals to visit and receive training in France.
First launched in 2001, every year the Cocteau Program selects a total of four cultural administrators from the public sector to:
Receive subsidies for airfare and traveling expenses from the Ministry while the French government arranges their schedules, accommodations and translation aid during their stay in France.
Participate in a 10-day enrichment program based on different themes such as museum policies, regional cultural heritages, performing arts and digital technology.
Visit the French Ministry for Culture and French cultural agencies to better understand the division of labor between central and local governments, as well as the collaborative projects conducted by the public and private sectors in France.
Through the Cocteau program, participants also gain a deeper understanding of the policies governing the arts and cultural institutions in France.
The exchange program, which aims to help public servants grasp international policy trends and learn from France’s experience, is expected to enhance cultural exchange between the two nations and contribute to Taiwan's international presence.
