Founded in 2004, the Graduate Institute of Taiwanese Literature is an important institution for the teaching and research of Taiwanese literature and culture.
The Institute's specialized research areas include: modern Taiwanese and Chinese literature; contemporary Taiwanese literature; classical Taiwanese literature; popular Taiwanese literature and culture; modern Japanese literature; urban literature and cultural studies; literary and aesthetic theory; linguistics and Southern Min studies; gender studies; and folk literature and culture.
The Institute also collects historical materials related to Taiwanese literature, and launches interdisciplinary and integrated research projects.
