The National Library's Center for Chinese Studies
Chinese Name: 國家圖書館漢學研究中心
Founded in 1981 as the Chinese Studies Information and Services Center, the National Library's Center for Chinese Studies originally focused on research material and services. In 1987 the center's research capabilities were enhanced and it was renamed the "Center for Chinese Studies."
The main functions of the center include: collection and compilation of data related to sinology; funding of foreign sinologists conducting research in Taiwan; publication of academic papers on sinology; publication of indices; reporting on the state of sinology; organization of large international seminars; and organization of book fairs abroad to promote Chinese culture.
In the three decades since its establishment, the center has created an excellent foundation for research in Chinese humanities and exchange within the international sinology community.
